annoying computers

Maybe I 'm just a little mean on computers in my title, and should be complaining about the people associated with computers and who program them.

So I just got done having dinner with my friend only to fnd out about some of his latest escapades with computers. He paid a company very well to set up his entire office with computers, scanners, digital cams, office automation, and security. All running through his computer, and they didn't even tell him how to work it all. I mean usually companies who do that kind of set up pay their techs something like $70/hr... Is it just me or if you pay someone 70 an hour to do something you can expect them to tell you how to atleast use it? Maybe I'm just nuts. I mean that is a pretty complex system and he paid to have something that used to least ammount of brain power to use.

Then what is with these people who just have to have a computer even though they have no idea how to use them, or even what they do! For those of you who are maybe new or just didn't care: COMPUTERS MANIPULATE DATA!!!! and that is IT. So unless you have some data to manip then you really dont need a computer. There are much cheaper/portable/higher quality solutions out there.

ok so those of you that know me. I kinda blamed my friend Robin for the death of my sony laptop. I thought he fried the graphics proc when he left on his bed covering the thermal ducts... well Sorry Robin the death of the laptop isn't your fault. Apparently that model had a bad habit of the ram slot 2 failing. Apparently there are a group of people getting ready to file a class action suit against Sony since they were such douche bags to make faulty machinery in their laptops.

Notice after I pulled the whole laptop apart and found out that a lot of stuff was working. I tried replacing a few of the ribbon cables... those didn't work, but were damaged in my tinkering. I thought I had checked both ram slots, but aparently my kingston stick was bad aswell. oops. So once I used a verified good stick in both slots it started consistently booting... How did I come to this fix? I'm bored. I'll start out by saying that. My GF is sick, and I'm contemplating installing linux on my main desktop. but first I want to backup my files. Sigh, what distro should I use? debian or gentoo. Install Apache and get a job selling/fixing computers. yay I fucken hate it when people fuck up on their end and other people have to pay for it.

Now time to talk about some real stuff. Apple has recently decided to switch to intels x86 architecture instead of IBM's PowerPC. From the mac users that I have talked to they dont seem to care too much since the PowerPC is still in existence in a big way, and from what I have heard from a few people apple accounted for something like 2% of IBM's PowerPC sales in the past year. Now for you hard core gamers out there that are playing with yourself over the release and specs of the PS3 here is a fact for you. The Cell processor that is going to really debue is a RISC processor which is the same architecture as the PowerPC! Wohoo your new playstation and your old mac are going to get along great.

Now onto something else I want to hear what people think about Java! Post your comments!!!!

Well had a meeting with my boss and one of the key quotes I got out of the meeting was "your not the next Bill Gates" well my reply to that is: No i'm not the next Bill Gates, no I'm not the next anything, I'm me and I will acheive my goals and fuck anybody that says otherwise. I dont want to walk in someone elses footsteps I want to make my own path and make my own way. I hate it when people are like wow your soo gonna be the next . No I'm not I may be similar to them is some strange way but I'm not going to just be them. I'm going to do it my way and see what happens.

So now that I'm done with that an update. I'm in Mesa AZ in java training. Its a great review. I'm just glad the the 2K to get here wasn't my money. Now on to this summer of code that I just found out about. I guess I have been away from the online world for a while. Its a cool idea, but it seems like everyone who is doing it is in it for the money. I have already started playing with an opensource project... Well on second thought it isn't hosted anywhere yet so its more of a msg/email the creator and get the latest code. Hopefully we will have it in a CVS tree pretty soon. Its nothing special or fancy just an IRC client written in java. I'm mainly in it so I can learn about IRC and then have a util that I really know and I know is compatible with a few plugins I'm planning on writing.

Otherwise the summer is good and I'm starting to enjoy myslef... well once I get back home from Mesa... yah this place blows I'm on foot and the nearest night club is a discotech after that there is a strip club like 35 mi from my hotel... Crap oh well it just means that I'm spending my time in my hotel room watching TV and reading.

I havn't been around for a while

Yay I got an apartment, a girlfriend, and I just set up her laptop.

Go old dell laptops. Well back at work and its ok.

I'm excited about going to Phoenix this Sun for a week of sun training on java. Then I get to go back to work. The commute totaly sucks, but it is good job experience.

Ohh and on another note I got my liquid cooling sys working on my desktop. This thing is soo cool. Literally as of now I'm running at about 9 degrees Farenheit over ambient. And that is generated from the internal sensors in my processors. Now I just have make an enclosure for my pump, and radiator/fans. I also have to drill some holes in my case so I can run the tubes out. What I may do is make it so the tubes are detachable from the inside of the case.

I'm going to need another pump if I expand my system anymore.

What the hell is with these annoying douche bags who just sit there and say "oh I have been doing this longer then u have been alive so I know what I'm doing" what the hell and usualy those dumb asses have been doing it wrong for my entire life but by some really annoying and stupid quark it works. Or you run into people like Wolfram who write a book and then claim that they know everything about the subject... I have read through a lot of A new Kind of Science and I personaly think that its nothing more then an ecorcise in masterbation on Wolframs part the book serves no purpose but to say I'm a pontificating asshole who sat down and repeated myself and massaged my ego for over 1000 pages. Now you run into these snot nosed dweebs who go out and buy the biggest book they can on a subject make an attempt at reading it but dont understand it because it has big words, and doesnt make any sense unless you know that field. Then these dweebs have the nerve to tell me they know about Cellular Automata then I do! Umm I spent 3 years studying them in an internship at a national lab and published interlab papers and a few at competitions. Sometimes people just need to stop and realise that if you study one field from just one person your view on that field is soo jacked up its worthless. I dont know how many hours I have spent on a stationary bike(so wont fall asleep) reading through these papers that just flat out hurt. If someone has a new and cool idea on the subject I'm interested but if they are just out trying to sit there and blow smoke then they can piss off.

Well thats enough of me being pissy and jaded for today.

what is with people

Well lets see Fri night was fun I went to a house party, then sat night I went to a pretty good party but on the way out there was some girl going nuts in the streets. I mean she was screaming as loud as she could I thought she was being attacked from down the street. Then when we did pass her it turned out that she was yelling at her boyfriend. So she flipped a newspaper stand over and then jumped infront of him fell to her knees and started sobbing into his stomach. She totaly didn't notice that both knees were in about 2 in of mud. I thought she was going to hit him then she falls apart. To make matters worse the guy was a total dick and managed to break away and keep walking.

Sun was cool, but I was dead tired. I still am I am thinking about falling asleep once I'm done with this so I feel better.

Sigh. I wonder if anyone reads this. Ehh well time to either do homework or sleep.
